Deutsche Bank recognised as Bronze Employer in Australian Workplace Equality Index

Deutsche Bank is pleased to be recognised as a Bronze Employer in this year’s Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI).

The AWEI is the only national benchmark solely dedicated to LGBTI inclusion in Australia, driving best practice and setting a comparative benchmark for employers across all sectors.

Bronze Employer Recognition is a substantial recognition that acknowledges a good deal of LGBTI inclusion activity over the assessed period.

Glenn Blackley, Head of Cash Bond Trading and Co-Chair of dbPride, said: “Each year, our participation in the AWEI is an opportunity to refine the LGBTI pillar of our inclusion strategy based on current best practice.

“This becomes especially important as so many organisations continue to raise the bar in this crucial area of diversity and inclusion.

“And while we are proud of what we have achieved, we know there is much more to be done and look forward to inspiring more progress in this space.”

This year saw a 38% increase in submissions compared with 2016, reflecting how LGBTI inclusion has made its way onto the Australian workplace diversity and inclusion agenda.

Deutsche Bank today also announced the appointment of Bruce MacDiarmid, Co-Head of Corporate Finance, as the new Executive Sponsor of employee network, dbPride.

MacDiarmid said, “I’m delighted to join dbPride as the network’s Executive Sponsor and making a visible contribution to a culture of mutual respect where everyone benefits.

“I believe inclusion is not about pretending differences do not exist, or raising one group above another, but about ensuring everyone feels comfortable bringing their whole self to work.”

Deutsche Bank’s LGBTI employee network dbPride, which was last year shortlisted as Employee Network of the Year for the activities, events and support it offers to promote a more inclusive workplace, counts over 20% of employees as network members.
